Coyol Free Zone continues to grow and contribute to Costa Rica’s economy, consolidating its role as a driver of investment, innovation, and new employment opportunities.
In 2025 alone, the 34 companies operating in this industrial park, a leader in Medical Device exports, added 834 new employees to their workforce, creating opportunities that translate into well-being, stability, and progress for thousands of families, primarily in Central Alajuela and Heredia.
They currently employ 25,422 people, of whom 71% work in operational positions, 9% in technical roles, 17% in professional positions, and 3% in management or executive roles.
Carlos Wong, Managing Director of CODE Development Group, co-developer of Coyol Free Zone, explained that “the increase in hiring reflects the value of human talent, operational excellence, and the trust that companies place in our Park.”
“This growth not only strengthens Costa Rica’s competitiveness but also translates into tangible opportunities for nearby communities through more jobs, greater economic development, and a positive impact on families’ quality of life,” Wong said.
Highly Skilled Talent
With more than 18 years of experience, the industrial park offers competitive advantages that facilitate the attraction of new high-value-added companies, encourage reinvestment by companies already operating in the Park, and, as a result, generate new employment opportunities.
“Coyol Free Zone offers a strong value proposition that combines highly skilled talent capable of meeting rigorous international standards; world-class infrastructure, value-added services, and advanced technology; and an ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and the development of new solutions to meet the requirements of highly specialized industries,” Wong added.
To attract this talent, companies and Coyol Free Zone pursue complementary efforts focused on formal, high-quality employment, continuous training and specialized education, and initiatives that promote overall well-being. These include Ride Coyol, an exclusive transportation platform for employees of companies in the Park that provides safe and efficient service.
“We promote a recruitment approach focused on technical competencies, soft skills, and development potential, expanding access to employment and ensuring a better match between individuals and the actual needs of companies,” Wong explained.
These efforts are complemented by structured career plans that foster continuous talent development. Training programs cover international standards, advanced technologies, soft skills, and courses tailored to each sector, strengthening the competitiveness of the available talent pool.
Coyol Free Zone also offers a wide range of programs through the National Learning Institute (INA) Course Catalog, developed in partnership with INA exclusively for employees of companies operating in the Park.
In addition, Coyol Free Zone offers initiatives such as “De Vuelta al Cole con Lumino” (Back to School with Lumino), an open education program for people who wish to complete the third cycle of secondary education (grades 7 through 9) or the Bachillerato por Madurez (High School Equivalency Diploma) program (grades 10 and 11). The program is available to employees of companies located in Coyol Free Zone, their family members, and residents of nearby communities.
Another key training program for the 34 companies operating in the Park is the Manufacturing Operator course, available free of charge through the Job Board (empleocode.com). Through this platform, companies can post job openings and strengthen their positioning as employers, while candidates can create profiles, explore opportunities, and apply directly.
In addition, Coyol Free Zone maintains collaborative agreements with 20 strategically located municipalities to support talent attraction.
