2,600 athletes ran in the eleventh edition of the event

November 25, 2024. 2,600 employees from 61 organizations, including companies located in Coyol Free Zone, sponsors and special guests took part in the eleventh edition of the Carrera Clásica Coyol, which is held every year in the industrial park. The ¢9 million collected from registrations of runners and sponsorships will be donated to support those affected by the heavy rains and landslides that occurred in the country.

Carlos Wong, Managing Director of CODE Development Group, co-developer of Coyol Free Zone, emphasized the importance of this type of initiative as it calls for solidarity and unity for Costa Rica.

“As a Life Sciences Industrial Park we have a commitment with the welfare of the communities. From Coyol Free Zone, we express our solidarity with the people affected by the heavy rains and we will use the money raised in this new edition of the Clásica Coyol to support the victims who need us today,” said Wong.

Clásica Coyol It is a 5- and 10-kilometer race that is held every year to promote the health and well-being of the more than 24,000 employees of the companies that operate in the Park, as well as to raise funds for community projects, such as improving educational infrastructure or equipping workshops of Professional Technical High Schools (CTP) with technical specialties related to the medical device companies of Coyol Free Zone. On this occasion, the funds will be donated to support the victims of the heavy rains and landslides.

The activity also included a 3-kilometer recreational walk and zumba classes for employees who do not practice athletics.

In 2024, the Clásica Coyol reported an increase in the participation of athletes, since 400 more people registered than in the 2023 edition. On this occasion, the event was supported by sponsoring companies.

The event included music (DJ), food trucks, entertainment, hydration, awards and raffles for participants.

The last two editions raised a total of ¢17,936,586, which was used for urgent needs in schools in the area where the Park is located. These resources were used to equip the Electromechanics and Industrial Electronics laboratory of CTP Ulloa and to provide equipment for technical specialty workshops at CEDES Don Bosco, thus benefiting more than 200 students of this educational center in areas such as Precision Mechanics, Electronics and Electromechanics.
