Alajuela, June 18, 2025. In Costa Rica, blood transfusions are performed on a daily basis, an act that can make the difference between life and death for many patients.

A single donor has the power to save up to four lives, since four components are extracted from each bag of donated blood: red blood cells, plasma, platelets and cryoprecipitates (frozen blood product). These components are vital to treat patients in emergencies, surgeries, chronic treatments, and polytraumatized, as well as people with cancer, transplants and burns, among others.

In this context, Coyol Free Zone, with the aim of responding to the call for solidarity and contributing to the improvement and preservation of lives, organizes a blood donation drive every year. In 2025, thanks to the generosity of 74 employees from different companies located in the Park, 34 liters of this vital resource were collected. They will have a direct impact on the health and welfare of approximately 296 people who require it.

Carlos Wong, Managing Director of CODE Development Group, co-developer of Coyol Free Zone, highlighted the strong commitment of the industrial park to people’s health. The 34 liters of blood donated in 2025 are in addition to the 30 liters collected during 2024, reflecting Coyol Free Zone‘s continuous and committed effort.

“The blood donation campaigns are a clear demonstration of our efforts to contribute to the health of those who need it most. We are proud to see how our actions, together with those of employees of various companies in the Park, have a direct impact on the lives of others,” said Wong.

Employees from CODE Development Group, Boston Scientific, Cadence, Cirtec, CRxLife Science/ECI, Resonetics, Steris and Shockwave Medical participated in the recent event. Coyol Free Zone maintains its commitment to the cause and continues to generate a positive impact on society.
