October 2023. Coyol Free Zone shines in the eyes of the world when it comes to attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). This is confirmed by the most recent award granted by fDi Intelligence, a division specialized in foreign investment of the Financial Times.

This magazine, recognized worldwide for providing in-depth information and analysis of the global corporate investment climate, awarded the Costa Rican Free Trade Zone as the Best Free Trade Zone in the Americas and Best Free Trade Zone in the Americas in the Industrial Category.

This 2023 is the third consecutive year that Coyol Free Zone receives this recognition in response to the process of attracting investment and reinvestment in the park, its high value-added exports (responsible for 52% of the country’s exports of medical devices and precision equipment), the productive linkages with local companies that it generates, and the constant creation of employment opportunities in the country.

Coyol Free Zone is the leading park in the Life Sciences sector in Costa Rica, providing approximately 25,000 quality jobs. It currently has two construction projects underway and two more under design, creating temporary jobs and productive linkages with local businesses.

It is currently home to 33 Life Sciences companies, including 7 of the Top 30 worldwide: Abbott, Cardinal Health, Hologic, Medtronic, Microvention-Terumo, Philips, and Smith&Nephew.

As part of its competitive advantages, 19% of the total area constructed in the Coyol Free Zone corresponds to buildings with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, which evaluates parameters such as energy consumption, water, alternative energy, indoor environmental quality, choice of materials, and waste management in the construction process.

It also has eco-efficient gardens that minimize the impact on the environment and promote the wellbeing and integral care of both clients and employees. It also stands out for being the first free trade zone in Costa Rica with ISO 9001-2015 certification for Construction Project Management.

In addition to this recognition, for the fourth consecutive year, The European Global Awards of the publishing house Thompson Reuters, awarded Coyol Free Zone as the Best Free Zone in Latin America for 2023, as well as the Most Innovative Free Zone in Latin America and the Best Life Science and Advanced Manufacturing Business Center in Latin America.
