Alajuela. Coyol Free Zone reaffirms its contribution to Costa Rica’s economic growth through initiatives that promote greater integration of local suppliers into global value chains, particularly in Life Sciences, Semiconductors, Smart Manufacturing, and Advanced Logistics Operations.
The industrial park advances productive linkages through Coyol Impulsa and the Supplier Directory (https://coyolfz.com/coyol-impulsa-providers-directory/), initiatives created to facilitate connections between Costa Rican suppliers and multinational companies operating at the Park. With a 19-year track record, Coyol Free Zone is Costa Rica’s leading Life Sciences hub, accounting for 54.9% of the country’s Medical Device exports, with annual exports totaling US$4.4 billion.
“The integration of local suppliers is a key component in continuing to strengthen Costa Rica’s Life Sciences industry. These initiatives create valuable connections, open new business opportunities, and contribute to the growth of companies that form part of our supply chain,” said Jorge Monge Víquez, Managing Director of CODE Development Group, co-developer of Coyol Free Zone.
Coyol Impulsa was launched in 2021 to recognize local suppliers that stand out for the quality, innovation, and excellence of the products and services they provide to the 34 multinational companies operating in the Park, seven of which are among the Global Top 30 Medical Device Companies. The program seeks to highlight good business practices and strengthen commercial relationships within the productive network.
Participating companies, regardless of size or sector, share one common factor: they meet the high quality and service standards required by companies operating at Coyol Free Zone. In addition to strengthening their business reputation, the recognition can open new commercial opportunities and help consolidate relationships with strategic clients.
“Being recognized for their performance as suppliers allows them to demonstrate the quality and reliability of their products and services. This not only opens up new business opportunities but also helps strengthen ties with current and potential customers,” Monge said.
Supplier Directory
In addition, the Coyol Free Zone Supplier Directory, developed in partnership with the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promotion Agency (PROCOMER), serves as a reference platform that enables companies to identify potential local suppliers for their needs. It currently includes more than 150 Costa Rican suppliers. https://coyolfz.com/coyol-impulsa-providers-directory/
The platform enables Costa Rican companies of different sizes to access business opportunities in highly specialized industries, provided they meet the requirements and evaluation processes established for inclusion in the Directory.
Currently, six out of ten exporting companies operating at Coyol Free Zone have at least one local supplier in their operations, reflecting opportunities to strengthen the participation of Costa Rican suppliers in their value chains.
Monge stated that Coyol Free Zone will continue to support initiatives that foster closer ties between multinational companies and Costa Rican suppliers, contributing to stronger productive linkages, competitiveness, and inclusive economic development in the country.
