Talented Costa Rican hands are bringing relief to thousands of patients around the world who, due to their heart disease, need to maintain a constant flow of blood to their hearts.
With almost 1,000 employees in the country, Cardinal Health works in the development and manufacture of products such as anti-embolic compression stockings that help prevent the collapse of the veins of patients with morbid obesity or pulmonary embolism.
Anti-embolic stockings help to reduce the incidence of deep vein thrombosis in patients by up to 50% and are important in improving blood circulation in their legs. In addition, they prevent the damaging effects of venous distention that can occur during surgery and hospitalization of bariatric patients and others. These stockings allow a flow of blood from the legs back to the heart with graduated pressure.
“As part of the cluster of medical devices in the country, we are proud to know that companies in the world’s Top 30 Life Sciences choose us as their headquarters to export products that bring health and well-being to thousands of patients around the world. This also goes to show the positioning of Costa Rica in the world as an ideal location for advanced manufacturing,” indicated Carlos Wong, Director of Coyol Free Zone.
These life-supporting products (Kendall SCD Compression System and T.E.D Anti-Embolism Stockings), manufactured by Costa Ricans at Cardinal Health, are distributed worldwide.
