In the second edition of Coyol Impulsa

January 2024. The Coyol Impulsa Award, an initiative of Coyol Free Zone, gathers Costa Rican suppliers that generate added value in the value chain of the companies located in the Park.

This recognition aims to highlight the country’s suppliers, fundamental pieces for the strengthening of the Life Sciences Industry; because with their offer of services, inputs or components, they contribute significantly to the improvement of the manufacturing processes of medical devices.

Carlos Wong, Managing Director of the Free Zone, explained that a strong base of local suppliers fosters competition and diversity in the supply of products and services, in addition to strengthening the supply chain and creating a win-win link.

“Production linkages generate great benefits not only for national companies but also for the country: transfer of knowledge, high quality standards, greater volume and quantity of business, innovation and greater competitiveness, as well as diversification of products for export and formal employment”, assured Wong.

The second edition of the Coyol Impulsa Award will be held this year 2024 and will close on January 31. This edition will assess the quality, sustainability and complementary services that Costa Rican suppliers develop and that add to the success stories of many other companies that already cooperate with multinationals in the Life Sciences Industry of Coyol Free Zone.

According to data from the Association of Free Zone Companies of Costa Rica (AZOFRAS), local purchases from the Free Zone Regime reached US$5,397 million through productive linkages with 11,000 suppliers that supply the 461 companies under the Free Zone Regime.

The Life Sciences Industry, on the other hand, is made up of local suppliers that include metal processing and coating, machinery and equipment, plastic parts, containers and packaging, semiconductors, business support services and administrative services.

During the second quarter of 2024, three local suppliers will be awarded. A Technical Secretariat, made up of representatives from PROCOMER and two companies from the Coyol Free Zone, will select the award-winning companies. This Secretariat will evaluate three variables:
